FILE MAIL 2 ---- the latest in file mail systems
what it does:
it moves entire file areas between boards using netmail connects
and net mail bags.
how to set it up
1) you need a fmroute.bbs in your main gt directory
2) you need to run fm2 r once a night.
3) optionsl: you may want to run fm2 d after each mdist run.
what's in fmroute.bbs:
SPONSOR --- next come the file echos that you sponsor
F00/001 -> C:\files\games
F00/002 -> C:\files\junk
DIST ---- now come the file echos that you subscribe to
F00/003 -> C:\files\gtpower
F00/004 -> C:\files\nodelist
ROUTE ---- now for the file echos that you send out
F00/001 -> 006/013
F00/002 -> 006/013
F00/003 -> 006/017
F00/004 -> 006/000
F00/004 -> 006/004
F00/004 -> 006/013
F00/004 -> 006/020
: anything in the routing file that starts
: with a : will be treated as a comment
: blank lines will be ignored
: any word starting with S,D,or R will be treated the same
: as Sponsor, dist, or route
How to get echo numbers:
simple - just make them up !!!
there are no crc's and no crc generators, I'd recomend using
some care in picking them though and here are some basic guidelines.
1) use file mail numbers in the same range as those
for echos in your net. co-ordinate them with the
others in your net so there is no overlap.
2) use echo numbers between 80 and 90 for private and experimental
echos.
3) use echo numbers between 90 and 99 for local file echos
that do not go outside your net.
other minor information
The fmroute.bbs file *must* be in your main gt directory. By this
I mean it's gotta be where you have GTPATH set to.
The program MUST be run on the drive you run mail on. If it does
not find \mailin and \mailout on the current drive it will die.
If you run the program more than once a day in R mode it will kind of
sort of run in "update mode" if you are a sponsor *and* no bags have
gone out. If bags have gone out *and* you sponsor echos then it will
make a mess by sending out bags with duplicate numbers.If you do not
sponsor any echos you can run it with the R option on as many times
a day as your wish.
There is no "duplicate bag" or "old bag" protection in the file mail
system. The reason for this is that I *assume* that if you paid the
freight for the files you must want them. Also duplicate files do not
cause the kinds of problems that duplicate messages do (other than
the freight costs .....).
there is a log file called fmail.log created in your main GT directory
to let you know what is going on.
compatability
fm2 is compatable only with 1600 and is not compatable
with file mail 1 (filexfer.exe and fedit.exe)
